Cake..cake..and more cake

After my first disaster cake class. I was brave enough to show up to the next one. Supposedly, the next cake was the clown cake. I skipped it and instead I made the one with the lame pink flowers. I regretted it because the clown cake turn out really cute (pictures of the clown posted here were made by others)...aren't they adorable? Oh well, there's always next time.

I also learned to make roses out of buttercream icing. I did this one at home because I thought that the class was cancelled. I showed the picture to my instructor and I pass the first course :)

We concentrated on making flowers out of royal icing on the second course. I was so excited to know that I only have to bake 1 cake for the entire class. I learned to make flowers like violets, apple blossom, victorian roses, daisies, pansies and mums. This time around, I followed what I was asked to do. This week was the last day of the 2nd course and I have to learn the basket weave pattern and then I have to put all the flowers I made ahead of time on the cake.

The cake turned out ok. I brought the cake to work to share to my co-workers. They all like it.

I'm looking forward to learning how to use fondant and gum paste. I'm so excited!

Wow! Great job on your class. I have been thinking of taking a cake decorating class too but keep procrastinating. Did you take your class at the Michael's in Lynnwood? Did you like your instructor?

Keep up the good work!

Your cake looks great! I'll have to look into taking that class when I get back from MD! CC
