My first decorated cake ever

I started taking a cake decorating course at our local Michael's store last month. I watched way too much food network that one day I decided why not take a class for fun. I didn't bake or decorate a cake before but I've always appreciate a cake that's well decorated. I thought maybe I can do this.

The first day of class was a disaster. I brought in a cake and icing to the class as instructed but what I didn't realize is that I was suppose to bring in a cake that's already iced. Not only that, I was suppose to come in with tinted icing. I frantically tried my best to get caught up because I was falling behind from everyone. What's worst is that when I flip my cake out of the pan, my cake fell apart. I could not believe it! I was suppose to be there to have fun but instead it was stressful. Of course I didn't give up. I figure I was there to learn cake decorating technique and if I couldn't finish the assigned task then I could always finish it at home.

Well, guess what?? I did it! I tinted the buttercream icing and I came home with my cake decorated. Our instructor was surprise that I was able to pull it off. I was happy and proud of what I did and at the same time vowed to be prepared for the next class.
