An apple a day keeps the doctor away

Although I didn't participate and carve a pumpkin yesterday, I was able to take one home. My co-worker gave me the one she carved.

On different note...Tyler took a very very long nap today. One hour and fifteen minutes this morning and two hours and forty five minutes this afternoon. I was a little worried but my friend Anne reassured me that he is ok. I kept checking him while he was napping and he seem so relaxed and he even snored. My friend's son napped for three hours before after he got his shot so I figured that that's probably why Tyler nap for a long time today. On top of that, I fed him mashed banana with rice cereal and milk for lunch so that could be one of the reason too. He has two solid feeding today. I wanted to start gradually so that by the time he turns 8 months, he will have 3 meals a day. My baby is growing...too fast!

Aside from bananas, I have not introduce any fruits to Tyler so tonight I prepared apple sauce for him. He liked it better when I add a little of rice in it. I got the recipe from Cooking for Baby also.

Apple Puree

Golden or red delicious apples, quartered and cored just before cooking.
  • Bring 1 inch water to a boil in a pot. Put apples in a steamer basket, set in pot, cover tightly, and steam until tender when pierced with the tip of a knife, 10-12 minutes.
  • Let cool, reserving cooking liquid. Scrape flesh from skins and puree in a food processor until smooth. Add reserved cooking liquid to thin puree, if desired.

Notes: Refrigerate cooled apple puree in an airtight container for up to 3 days, of fill ice-cube trays or other containers to freeze for up to 3 months. Expect some slight discoloration during storing.
