Zucchinis

My friend Anne gave me a Cooking for Baby book from William Sonoma. I've already tried to make the pureed peas and now I am trying the Zucchini puree. Tyler will have Zucchini for 3 days then I'll introduce a diffrent food for him. Here's the baby food recipe:

Zucchini Puree
  • Cut zucchini into rounds 1 inch thick. Bring 1 inch water to a boil in a pot. Put squash in a steamer basket, set in pot, cover tightly, and steam until very tender, 5-9 minutes, depending on size

  • Puree squash in a food processor or blender until smooth. Additional liquid will not be needed. As baby gets older, add baby's cereal to thicken this liquidy, if desired.

Notes: Since baby will eat the peel, be sure to buy organic squash if possible. To store, refrigerate cooled puree in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or fill ice-cube trays or other containers to freeze for up to 3 months.

From steamed zucchinis...

to puree...to Tyler's spoon...

So I combined 1/4 cups of pureed zucchini with 2 oz of formula milk. It was too liquidy, I'll add rice cereal next time to make it thicker. Tyler did not like it as much as the peas but he finish the serving anyway.
