Day Care

Our search for daycare has begun. I've taken some time off today to check and call different daycare center for Tyler. Our first stop is Springtime daycare, they are located so close to our neighborhood. We were able to get a tour of their facility and got some details on how they run the daycare. Their rates are reasonable but they have a waiting list. Their next availability is not until April of next year. By then Tyler would be 13months old and they said their ratio is 7 to 1. They only accept 4-5days and no part time.

Jon, Tyler and I went for a walk towards Springtime daycare.

I also got a call back from the director of Countryside Montessori Child Care. She was very nice and she provided me with details. Unfortunately, there is also a waiting list. There's 8 families ahead of us and they are not available till June of next year. *sigh!* They would have been a better option, they came with good referals and also the ratio is 3 to 1. We'll just have to continue to look at different options. Here's the link to Montessori Child Care.

We then had lunch at Hoosinyi Korean restaurant...so yummy! It has been a long time since Jon and I went and I mentioned it to him that the place has been renovated and that I think they have new owner. We got confirmation today that they are new for 4 months now but kept the name for now. It is still very good and the service I thought was better. Tyler was so awesome, we kept him in the car seat and he didn't mind at all. He was just eating his Cheerios and watched us eat. He was also laughing a lot everytime I make funny faces. He thinks mommy was funny! funny looking. haha!

After Tyler went to bed, I started working on the cake for Kelly. It's her 2nd birthday celebration tomorrow at the Little Gym. Her theme is Winnie the Pooh so I have to think of a cake that has Pooh on it. I bought a Pooh molded pan awhile back from Michael's and all I have to do was outline the image and use star tip for piping.

I decided to use a round pan instead of the molded pan, it would be better because it would look elegant. With all this being so new to me, I look at other's design to come up with a nice cake for Kelly. My inspiration came from Kelly75 (cakecentral) and Rouvelee (flickr). It amazes me how many talented people out there. Some day I hope that I would come up with my own style and design but for now I have to settle on others until I get comfortable to make my own. I do try to put my own twist on it and I always hope that it will come out nice.

For Kelly's cake, I made the chocolate cake from scratch (Ina Garten's recipe) and yellow cake, chocolate ganache for filling and fondant to decorate. I have so much fun making this cake. I attempted to sculpt Pooh and Piglet for the first time. When I mentioned it to Jon he was hesitant and thought I couldn't do it so just to prove him wrong I did anyway. I figure that if it does not look it the next morning then I can always take them off. I think they turn out OK considering they are all handmade. Tyler has a Pooh and friends mobile music on his crib and I used that as my model. I hope Kelly likes it. *Smile*
