Cake books

I stop by the library to pick up more cake books today. I now have a total of 5 cake books at home and I am taking my time going through each one of them. It's like school all over again except this time, I'm actually enjoying reading and studying these books *grin* Maybe I should have been in Culinary school. I'm at awe at how much talent the pastry chef's have. Almost every page I flip I'd be hearing myself saying...."Ahhh...if only I can do and replicate that cake" or "I would like to make that one soon" or "Oh that is so pretty" and I can go on and on...I'm just amazed! I don't think I really paid too much attention to cakes before even when I was planning my wedding. I really don't know where my new interest in cake came from. I know that I've always appreciated a cake that's well decorated but I never thought that I would be this interested. I am convinced that if I keep a positive attitude, keep learning, keep practicing and keep believing that I have the skill and capabilities to decorate a cake then it will just be a matter of time until I decorate a cake that's almost the same as those in the books. I might just surprise myself one day :)

These are few of the books I got from the library. I know these authors/pastry chefs from watching the Food Network Cake challenges like Collete Peters. She is well known in the cake industry and she is very good.
Mich Turner is also one of the best pastry chef in the country. I can't wait to check out his other books.
This one is my favorite and definitely a keeper. My instructor bought this book and brought it in the class one day and I thought the cover is pretty cute but I didn't get to read the book. So I decided to borrow it from the library and I love it! I actually recognize the Chef as one of the contender in the Food Network Cake challenge and she also made a cake that was featured on Sex in the City (Charlotte's wedding cake when she wed Harry).
So there you have it. More cake books for me to read.
